Love my Intellitone and rely on it.

The Boss purchased four Intellitone 200 toner/probe sets two years ago for us network techs to use. It has proven to be an excellent troubleshooting tool. I use mine often and rely on it.

The toner unit tells whether a network jack has service, or needs to be patched in. With practice, the probe will let you locate individual cables at patch panel or elsewhere among hundreds of others - while connected to an active network. The cablemap feature checks cable runs for damage or common wiring problems. Does several other less-useful (to me) things as well. The unit will not detect split pairs or measure cable length like $$$ devices. But that's OK because the low price allowed purchasing a tester for my exclusive use.

On the minus side: The cablemap feature works, but deciphering faults is difficult. The LEDs flash too fast for me. Worst problem is Fluke includes no written instructions with the tool, only a sheet with simple pictures to help you figure it out for yourself. Folks without an electrical background or technical training would benefit from a verbose how-to booklet.

Final thought: the Intellitone set is great for troubleshooting, but is not an “automatic” tester. You must know the technology to use it effectively.
