Man at it's worst

When my boyfriend and I saw this movie at Blockbuster, I was not sure what to think. He was dying to see it. I was at least intrigued by Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. being in the same movie. So since I am a fan of both, I decided ok. I had no idea what was going to happen and I was pleasantly surprised.

The Plot:
I'm going to try to not tell you what happens. I enjoyed it more because I was completely caught off guard. This movie is definitely a mind and heart-ripping event. There is so much that goes on in this movie; you will wonder what is really going on with Anthony Hopkins. Ethan Powell (Hopkins) is a world-renowned anthropologist who killed a few men in Africa. Theo Calder (Gooding) is the young psychiatrist who is sent in to the psychiatric jail to evaluate Powell.

Evaluation:
If you think the acting might be good because of whose in it, you are right. Just imagine Hopkins doing some of his best acting and that is what you will get. The story is so captivating; you will find yourself glued to the TV set. For days after I saw this movie I probably talked about it to everyone I saw. I still can not help but rave about it when someone even says something about Hopkins or Gooding. I have always enjoyed movies that show the good of animals, but Instinct brings this into a whole new light. Throughout the movie, I could not wait to see what was going to happen next. When it ended, I was still in shock from the power of the performances and story line.

Conclusion:
One word of warning, Instinct is not for young audiences. There are scenes that even I as an adult had a hard time handling. This is an intense movie, put the kids to bed before you pop this one in. I will say I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this film. The combined talents of Hopkins, Gooding, and directing by Jon Turtleltaub will ensure thatInstinct is bound to be a classic for years to come.
