NOT BACKWARDLY COMPATIBLE AS ADVERTISED
Pros:
Decent capacity reliable portable storage.
Cons:
What they don't tell you: will not write to 100MB zip disks!
The Bottom Line:
If you're buying your first one, go right ahead. If you have 100MB disks left to write to, crunch some numbers.

Author's Review
Having a "techno-cat" that likes to prowl my office, knocking things to the floor, I lost my 250MB Zip Drive when she pushed it off the top of my CPU. My 100MB external drive has disappeared somewhere. The darn things are really handy for storage and for transferring files from one computer to another, so I went out to empty my pockets for a replacement. I have a bunch of blank 100MB zip disks, and, like all Iomega media, they are very expensive. I went looking for a replacement.
The 100MB Zip drive is still pretty expensive given its limitations, when you compare prices and capacity among Iomega external storage devices. Well, after a salesman assured me that the 750 was backwardly compatible with 100MB disks, I bought the 750. The other day, I went to put a large file for transfer onto one of the blank 100MB disks. "Write Protection Error" was what came up. After about an hour of hunting around on the Iomega support site, I finally figured out that a 750MB drive WILL NOT WRITE TO 100MB DISKS. Lies, fraud and planned obsolescence!
Given the high price they charge for media, the only ethical and honorable course for Iomega to take would have been to make newer drives able to write to all their disks. Their products are more or less sturdy and work well, but I am not impressed with their design philosophy. Now I'm crunching the numbers. Are the ten or so blank 100MB disks worth spending $80 for another 100B Zip drive? Either way, Iomega gets to pick my pocket. What fun!
