Pros: Noise cancellation, comfortable, and a retractable cord.

Cons: Somewhat high price, average bass response, and an unreliable retractable cord mechanism.

I purchased the JVC HA-NC100 headphones to replace my old favorite pair. I have had it for a month and enjoyed it

The audio quality is fine; however, lacks bass compared to its competitors - my old Aiwa NC5s were. The noise canceller uses one "AAA" size battery and is effective, but did not provide the audio boost I was used to from my old pair of headphones.

The headphones are padded in ruffled vinyl (similar to home stereo-type headphones) which is very comfortable to wear and can slightly fold to store in a supplied pouch. A convenient feature is a retractable cord storage on the left-channel side of the headphones; but the spring managed to detach from its mount and unravel inside the case, causing sluggish and incomplete cord retraction.

The HA-NC100 headphones needs three improvements: the cord retraction mechanism, the noise cancellation needs slight improvement in boosting the input signal, and the headphones' drivers need better bass frequency handling for their size.
