Author's Review
I received my juicer about a week ago, and I love it! I've juiced about every fruit and vegetable that was in my fridge, and had spectacular results with all.
The only problem I have had so far was my own fault. I tried to put apple halves into it that were too large, two at a time. I had to get one of the halves back out in order for the first one to continues to feed down the tube. This was easily accomplished by skewering it with a fork, and once I had done this, it juiced the apple readily. One of the recipes that came with it called for two carrots. I put both down the chute at the same time, and the powerful motor didn't even flinch as it juiced both carrots.
It easily breaks down after use into five parts that can be tossed into the dishwasher, plus the base which contains the motor which stays scrupulously clean.
I remember the juicer my mother used when I was a child; it was a monstrous and noisy thing. When it came time to clean it, she would have my father come in and remove the blade with a wrench, and then the scrubbing ensued. Not so with the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer! After I use it, it easily comes apart with no tools whatsoever, and then I rinse the parts and put them in the dishwasher.
Another thing I remember about my mother's old juicer; it was noisy! It sounded like a sawmill in full production. This one is quiet; my rangehood fan makes far more noise!
One of the things that impressed me on the infomercial was how dry the pulp was after juicing. Here again, it works as advertised! No wasted juice.
I live alone, and in the past have often wound up throwing out fruits and vegetables because they went bad before I got around to using them. Never again! Now all I need to do juice them and drink their vitamin-charged goodness.
