Too Much Iron Can Make You Steaming Mad.

Do you ever get tired of paying the dry cleaners for doing something that you can do yourself?  Well, I am tired and I did something about it. I went on line at http://www.amazon.com/ and purchased the Jiffy J-2000 steam iron for $150.  It took a couple of weeks to get to me, but I did not mind because I knew that I would be saving money as soon as it got here.  Now the only reason that I take something to the dry cleaners is if the tag on the garment specifically calls for it to be dry cleaned otherwise I just wash it myself and use my new steam iron.  

Description
This steamer is able to go with you on trips as long as you drive, it will fit nicely inside of your trunk.  It also will plug into any household outlet.  This steamer will furnish you with 1300 watts of power and will take less than a minute before it is ready to be used.  This has a five foot removable hose which coils up nicely inside your trunk if you need to travel with it.  This has four well-built wheels that I have had no problem navigating this around my house, they swivel around whenever I need them to turn.  This also comes with a five-foot aluminum threaded rod to hang your clothes via a loop located at the end of this rod, so that you are able to steam them and not get your hands in the way.  This dimensions of this is 18” high x 14” deep x 11” wide, and only weighs 18 pounds.  At the end of the hose, there are six high velocity jets that that are located inside of the six-inch head, this is where it will shoot steam out at the garment and melt the wrinkles away.  This also has a removable water tank that will allow you to steam for approximately one and a half hours.  The housing that this steamer has is very durable and made of a high impact resistant polymer.  One of the most important features is the fact that this has an automatic shut-off, just in case you forget and leave it alone for a while. You will not have to worry about the element rusting out, because it is built inside of a solid brass containment.  In addition, when you are trying to put the tank on and off of this unit, you do not have to worry about spilling it because it has a no-spill check valve in the cap.  Because of the nice brass fitting that they have given you that is located at the end of the hose, you should never have to worry about ruining the end of the hose.

Experience
Our thought about this steamer, is that if it hangs vertically then we will steam it.  We have many drapes that can be washed, but after we washed them and when we take them out of the dryer, then they have all of these wrinkles on them.  However, with this steamer, this is not a problem, we simply just set it up and push the steamer in front of them while they are up and let it do the work.  In amazement, it only took a matter of seconds before we saw a difference, we could not believe our eyes, and the wrinkles just started disappearing in a matter of seconds. We have also used this on my wife’s work uniforms and my dress pants and shirts.  I have had the dry cleaners ruin a good set of drapes when the chemical that they used put holes in the drapes so that was when we decided to try this steamer.  This comes in very handy, when you have so many clothes in your closet that even though you would iron them, to be ready for their next use, you pull them out of the closet; this is when you notice that they are all wrinkled all over again, and the first thought that goes through your mind is that you wasted your time ironing you clothes.  By using this, you will no longer need to iron most of your clothes again; you can just steam them and wear them right away. We have saved a lot of money by not taking all of our garments to the cleaners.  This is so simple to use that even a child could use but I would not let them use it.  All you have to do is fill the tank, and turn it on, and away you go, just fill it up and let heat up and steam your troubles away.

Maintenance
Yes, even though this is so simple there is still some cleaning that comes along with it.  This is very important because a buildup of sediment can cause the hose to become plugged, so if you keep this clean this should not happen.  To prevent this from happening, all you have to do I keep an eye on the inside of the bottom of your steamer, and if you see any white crusty stuff this is called calcium, then you will know that it is time to clean your steamer.   To do this all you have to do is put 4 ounces of water inside of the tank and let it come to a boil or until you see steam coming out.  Then unplug your steamer and let it cool for a few minutes and proceed to pour all of the water that is left, out.  Now, this is when you will need their special solution that they will be glad to sell you, or you can do as I did and just pour some vinegar inside and let that do the job.  Either way it will work, but you should remember to flush out all of the solution or vinegar with fresh water before using the unit again.  This usually takes about three rinses to get it all out.

Warranty
This comes with a one year limited warranty, but if you have problems with in the first 30 days, you will have to return it directly to the Jiffy steamer company.  If you have problems do not wait, because if the products gets older than one year older than the date on your receipt, then they will not touch it and it is all your problem.  They will be glad to help you if you are with in that first year.

Conclusion
I can highly recommend this steamer for any one that wants to save their money and stop giving to the dry cleaners.  Stop giving your money away; keep it on your pocket instead of theirs.  This is easy to use, and is small enough that it can be put out of sight in any closet.  It also comes with its own wrench to attach the hose with. Your friends will wonder how you keep you drapes so clean and neatly pressed.  I can give this one five out of five stars, for durability and ease of use.
