Kiddopotamus Bibbity Bib is a Comfy & Effective Favorite, Minus the Stains

When my daughter was born, we went through many, many bibs.  First we used cloth bibs when she was a baby, mostly to handle her major spit-up issues.  Then it was on to more solid foods.  As she began eating all solids, I switched to more plastic or rubbery bibs that could be cleaned more easily, including the Kiddopotamus bib.

I found this bib at Walmart for about $10 for a 2-pack.  It came in a few pastel colors, and I chose green.  These are designed to fit approx. 8 months - 4 years.  Contains no BPA, PVC, phthalates or latex.


My Thoughts

This bib goes on easily, and it is is a soft rubber material, so unlike some of the softer bibs, I don't have to worry about poking my daughter in the face!  There are three size choices on the back of the bib when you fasten it behind your child's neck.  The rubber material does have a tendency to cling to my daughter's short hair, so I have become careful to sweep her hair completely out of the way before fastening.

The closure is the kind where you insert a button and slide it.  My daughter can get some of her bibs off (velcro or "button"), but this one stays secure.  And even when she pulls on it in frustration, it is soft enough that it doesn't cut into her face.

This bib folds up for portability and also for traveling with a dirty bib.  I have always used this bib at home, but we are going on a cruise in a few weeks and I will bring this bib, since it folds up and travels nicely.

This bib does catch crumbs and food well.  My toddler is in the stage where she is learning to self-feed.  She will scream even if I try to touch her utensils, so I let her feed herself, no matter what the food - and this includes messy foods like soups.  The Bibbity catches food just as good as any other bib.

The Bibbity washes easily.  I rinse it in the sink, or in the event food is dried on, I run hot water on it and scrub with a sponge.  The only downside I have found with this bib is that it stains.  There are a bunch of noticable stains, and because of the colors, I am guessing tomato based products (tomato soup, spaghetti sauce), carrots, and Indian food.

In my searches on the internet, I found this info on the manufacturer website.  Although it seems like stains are treatable, I do not have time or patience to regularly go through an extra cleaning routine!

A: To remove newsprint stains use a small amount of vegetable oil and then rinse any oil residue completely with warm soapy water. To help remove food stains you can try soaking the product in a mild" bleach solution then rinse thoroughly in running water. Remaining stains generally fade over time.


Overall

I like everything about this bib except the stains.  Although the stains are treatable, it would be nice if it was something I didn't have to worry about.  I haven't gotten around to bleaching the bib, so for now it's a matter of having to look at them!
