Great at First, Then they Leak
Pros:
Belly button notch makes changing a wiggly newborn easier.
Cons:
They start to leak very badly when the baby starts to pee more.
The Bottom Line:
I wouldn't buy these again unless they redesign.

Why we bought them
When we first brought our baby home from the hospital, we started buying Huggies Newborn Gentle Care diapers. We had received a free sample and I really liked how there was a notch cut out for the belly button stump so we didn’t need to do crazy folding for every diaper change.
The Leaking Begins
At first I was quite happy with these diapers, but then about a week after coming home I started noticing something that concerned me. I was feeding my son and suddenly felt the warmth of fresh pee pouring down my leg. I thought maybe I had not put the diaper on tight enough, but then it happened again the next day, and the day after. After some careful observation I realized that these leaks only seemed to happen when he was lying on his side and it was the leg that allowed the leak, however the leaking was like he wasn’t even wearing a diaper when it happened. We decided to try some different diapers and haven’t had a problem since.
I think when he was first born he didn’t pee as much at one time, because I didn’t have any leaks for the first week. I also never had a problem with poop leaking out. I think the basic problem with these diapers was that they couldn’t absorb enough pee fast enough when he started producing more… which makes these truly diapers meant for newborns.
When I switched, I did miss the convenience of the belly button notch. My little guy really likes having his diaper changed, which makes him excessively wiggly during the process. That made folding the diaper a little tricky. On the other hand, the amount of leaking that had been happening had left me with excessive amounts of laundry, so folding the top of the diaper down was a small price to pay.
Design
These diapers are very cute and contain pictures of Winnie the Pooh and friends. Unfortunately, the designs on the diapers show through on light colored outfits, and the baby wasn’t old enough at this stage to be excited about design. Most diapers have designs on them though, so perhaps babies just shouldn’t wear light colors.
Bottom Line
I do love the concept of these diapers and wish they had worked better longer but leaking on a regular basis is something I find unacceptable in a diaper.
