Slow write speed

I called tech support at Kingston b/c I thought that 19 min. to transfer 3.49 gb was a little excessive. Said this was normal. The exact same 3.49GB file through the same port on the same system will transfer in only 9 minutes on a Memorex Portable Vault. Kingston = much poorer than Memorex. There is also no pre-loaded software, such as password protection. Again, the Memorex features this. It should be noted that both products were purchased off of ebay, but there is no reason to suspect that either are not genuine goods.
