Author's Review

I bought this product because I believed it was high quality. I've had it for 18 months now and know better.

There is a part in the back at the top inside the Fridge. Basically it's a door that lets cooled air enter the refrigerator.

For some reason, Kitchenaid (and I believe Whirlpool as well) have decided to mechanize this little door (competitors don't do this). The problem is that the mechanisms breaks down... Very frequently. On the 12th month (the last month of the warranty) I had the part replaced. When broken it makes alot of noise, and presumably doesn't refrigerate quite properly. The repairman entered my home with the part in his hand I asked how he knew that would be the problem: "This part is always the problem, Kitchenaid made a huge mistake and I benefit."

Not 6 months later, the exact same part is broken once again.

I contacted Kitchenaid in the hopes that they would replace it again since, although the fridge was out of warranty, that particular part had just been replaced.

They said it was up to me to buy the extended warranty and refused to replace the part for free.

I find it amusing that companies focus on selling the level of quality of their products and then proceed to push their extended warranties. In my opinion, only sub-par products need extended warranties.

Although these fridges look good with all their bells and whistles, they end up being noisy and don't work properly, I highly recommend that you stick with a simpler and less expensive model.
