Received the Kodak EasyShare C743 camera bundled with the G600 printer for Christmas. The product is excellent for family use [not for professionals]. The pictures and resulting prints are superlatively clear and the camera itself is very easy to use and upgrade.
The camera has a large viewing screen and a 3X telescope zoom.
The camera has six basic operating modes:
1) AUTO - all parameters set by the camera.
2) LANDSCAPE - Distant scenic pictures
3) CLOSE UP MODE - For items less than 28 inches away
4) PORTRAIT - Full face portrait pictures
5) VIDEO MODE - Creates AVI videos
6) FAVORITES - Store favorite pictures in a highlight
folder
I found that pictures taken in every mode were clear and reasonably colored - no problems there. The modes are switched simply by turning a single knob and the name and function of the mode is displayed on the screen. It really is very simple to use.
A couple of things to look out for. The basic camera is only shipped with 32MB of memory. That translates into storage for only about 25-27 pictures. The first thing I did after testing the camera was purchase a 2.0 GB SD/MMC card. The card expanded the camera's capacity to about 1,500 pictures. The second problem is that the product does not have a printed manual enclosed. However, you can get an online HTML manual from the Kodak® website. The URL is:
The final problem is that there is no camera or printer case supplied. I have only had the camera for about 10 days so will say nothing about durability.
P.S. I noticed that the batteries can easily be inserted with incorrect polarity. In such a case the camera appears not to be working. The solution is to reverse the polarity of the batteries.
