Good Camera - Questionable Warranty

My daughter bought this camera mainly for its looks. She needed a camera to take to school. Initially camera worked well, but after a few months the display went bad. Everything else worked fine. It's just that you could not see your pictures until you downloaded them to a computer. Contacted Kodak regarding warranty support and they referred us to their warranty service contractor; United Camera & Binocular Co., Bensenville, IL. We sent the camera in and were told the LCD would be repaired under warranty. But about a week later United Camera sent us an estimate for repairs claiming they found sand in the camera. Knowing that everything worked on the camera except the LCD (a sealed part) we asked how sand (if any) could have played a part in the failure. Their response was "if there is sand in the camera we don't have to fix anything under warranty." It was at this point that we discovered United Camera & Binocular has a very poor record with the Better Business Bureau. When we took our situation to Kodak they said it was purely an issue between United Camera and us. So all we can do is add our case (#94148035) to the Chicago BBB file on United Camera. It's the last Kodak we buy.
