Pretty Stinkin Cool For The Price
Date of Review: Apr 13, 2004
The Bottom Line: Despite some vehemently negative reviews I've seen, I consider these to be the absolute best combination of features and price in this genre of earbuds
I use mine in the gym exclusively, and have no problems either keeping them in, or with discomfort- I forget they are there and wonder why I can't hear what anyone is saying in between tunes.
The sound is as good as any set I have ever used, including some phones I paid 2-3 times as much for.
I couldn't understand the passionately negative reviews until I realized that there is an older model that seems to be taking most of the heat- mine are the more recent edition, apparently, and I love them. They came with 3 or 4 different sets and shapes of foam plug, and I discovered that if you don't like any of those, its a piece of cake to customize a set of standard industrial foam earplugs to fit your ear precisely, just trim them with scissors and make the hole with a hot drill bit or needle- but enough of my MacGyverisms- the plugs that come with the set are pretty diverse, and will likely provide you with a good, comfortable fit.
Only improvement I would recommend is some way to secure the foam on to the driver- a hook or clip or clamp or something.
Can't beat the price for the excellent job they do of limiting ambient noise, and the audio capabilities are impressive.
My favorite aspect of the design is the fact that I need much less volume output from my MP3 player, which dramatically improves battery life- which is extremely important to me as my player has proprietary, non-replaceable batteries
