This AC won't last

This air conditioner worked for 1.5 summers. It doesn't work at all now. I think the thermostat is broken. I found out that there is a five year warranty on it, but you HAVE TO have the receipt. Even though the company said by the serial number, they know it was made within the past five years, they still won't fix it because I can't find the receipt. One of the many non-English speaking people that I talked to at their customer service department (obviously not located in this county), had the nerve to ask me if it was in direct sun. "It should be run in the shade". Do I even need to tell you my comeback to this one? My lesson for you: if you buy this, make sure you keep the receipt.
Also, it IS very loud - I agree with the other postings. Its been loud since I bought it.
