What is it?
The LG WM2233H is a front loading washing machine with several bells and whistles (literally). This model has a 4.0 cu/ft capacity. The machine features both a LoDecibel Quiet System (for a whisper quite wash) and a SenseClean System (for automated water usage). There are five washing programs, in particular a Sanitary cycle that is recommended for cloth diapers and bedsheets. Most washing programs can be customized, whether you want a prewash, extra rinse, extra water, etc. The machine also has an option to be stacked, or you can buy matching pedestals to raise the washing machine up from the floor.
My thoughts...
My 10 year old top loading machine decided to do its last load one day and sputtered to a stop, leaving me desperately needing a new washer ASAP. I use
cloth diapers at home so everyday without a washer is critical. I chose this LG model based on the features and affordability. It is the mid-range model, while not being the top of the line model it was decent and had a larger capacity than the cheapest one. I read every page of the instruction manual just to make sure I use it correctly.
All I can say is that it is so easy to use! You press the on button, turn the knob to the correct cycle (normal, hand wash, etc.), then press the play button. You can also manipulate the options for a customized program. When the wash is done, a short melody sounds to let you know. The wash cycle is not whisper quiet, but definitely a lot quieter than my old washer. I hear the water spraying throughout the wash, but the spin cycle is noticeably quiet. It so fast that it almost sounds like it's going to take off. I love that it automatically detects the size of the load you are washing. It adjusts the water level automatically in order to make your wash efficient.
While I can't say that it has magically removed old stains from my clothes, my spouse swears that his socks are whiter. I do know that it cleans my child's cloth diapers pretty well using a pre-wash and extra rinse. Also, some people have written that their clothes come out almost dry, but I haven't noticed this too much. Not a big deal for me since I prefer to hang dry anyway.
By the way, I didn't want to fork the additional dough for the pedestals, so I am using these on the floor and have no problems with the height at all. I can't think of too many downsides. Just to see how long it would take at the longest setting, I did a Sanitary cycle with a prewash and extra rinse, and it took 2 hours and 5 minutes for the cycle to complete. That's a long time! Another bummer was that it does not have an option to just spin. Sometimes I hand wash things and would like to just spin it dry, but with this washer you will have to do a rinse+spin cycle to do that.
