Author's Review
This is an Evaporative Recirculating Humidifier, which means there is a Motor in it that pumps water from the Bottom of the Tank in a small hose out to the Top into a Filter. A Fan then Evaporates the Water in the Filter into the Air. This recirculates water with the hose and you can See the water Falling back into the Bottom through the Easy See through Door. The hose pulls water from the bottom tank and then shoots the water Against the Easy Refill door through a small rectangle filter then back into the bottom Tank again.
Looks
It is a tank that sets on the Floor, has a Plastic Piece that Sets on top of the Tank to hold the Filter in the correct Position. Then on top of that you Place the Motor (which is the very top box part of the humidifier) So there's really 4 pieces to Assemble together, which isn't hard because you're just Stacking them on top of each other.
Tank, plastic holder, filter, humidifier top.
Settings
It has Off, 1, 2, 3 Levels for how fast you want the Fan to Run. The faster the Fan runs the More water is being Evaporated into the Air. There is a On/Off Indicator Light that is on while the Humidifier is on, that way you know if it's properly running.
Noise
I hate the noise of fans when I sleep, I like it to be silent when I sleep. I was nervouse to get it at first, but the Box says it's not Noisey. So I thought, I'll try and if I hate it then I'll just Return it. I'm not returning it though, because I love it. I Keep it in my Bedroom next to my heater Vent. I put it on level 1 at night and I don't mind it, I don't have any issues with sleeping. If I leave it on level 3, then it bothers me and I'll get up to change it to level one again. The difference in noise is just how fast the Fan Runs. I guess it depends on how light of a sleeper you are if you'll like it or not, But it is Quiet compared to others I've heard.
E-Z Door Feature for Refill
It has an Easy See through Plastic Top Door that folds Down for Pouring water into for Refilling it. I love this Because it means I don't have to Carry a heavy Tank of Water from the Sink to my Room. I just get a big cup and Fill it up (it takes me a couple trips from the sink to my Room but it's Worth it) Although, you can Just Fill up the Bottom tank and Carry it into the Room if you wanted, but you could Spill it because there's no Seal tight lid. I have done this and it's not super heavy, I just have a Bad Back for lifting so I don't want to do it.
I Refill mine about once or Twice a Day depending on how much I have it on. I run it all night long on setting 1 which means when I wake up it's half empty. I can Run it all night on setting 3, I'll just have to Refill it in the Morning.
Waterfall
The Box Describes the E-Z Door as a " Cascading Waterfall that Shows it's Working". The motor pulls water from the Tank through Hoses. The motor sucks up the water in one hose at the tank bottom, which the hose runs to the Top of the machine and spilts into 2 hoses. One hose Runs water into the Top of the Filter, keeping it wet to Humidify the air, while the other hose Runs the water to the E-z Door. That hose stops at the E-z door and it Shoots water against the Door, which then falls back into the tank again. This Recirculates the water, which in turn makes it harder for Bacteria to grow since the Water is constantly moving around. You can also See the water being shot out of the hose, So you know it's working without a Question.
3 Gallon Output per day--- 800 Sq Ft
I guess I didn't read the Box Carefully Enough when I bought it because I thought it meant 3 Gallon Tank Size, so I'd have 3 gallons of water. NO, The bottom holds 1.75 Gallons of Water at one time and it says " 3 Gallon Output Per Day Humidifies up to 800 Sq Ft)"
Filters
This takes a L115 Filter. the Filter is probably going to need to be replaced once a month depending on how much you use your machine. I've only had mine a month so far, and I just changed it tonight. It just smelled a little Funky and I'm Super Allergic to Mold So I wasn't going to Risk not changing it.
The Filter was cheap in comparison to the other models I was Looking at purchasing. The Filer I bought was $5 at Menards ( I also bought the Humidifier there for $35). So If I replace the Filter Every month for a year, that's 5 times 12 which is only $60 a year to have better air and Sinuses.
My house Humidity
I have a 3 bedroom, 2 story town house and it's pretty big. This humidifier works for up to 800 Sq Ft, so make sure you know how big of an area you want to humidify before you buy. This Seems to do the Job really Well for my whole house. My heat Runs a lot which makes my house Dry all winter long, So I went and got a Holmes Humidity Tester for $3 that looks like a Temperature Guage actually. I can measure my Humidity in Each Room of the house.
Before I got this Evaporative Humidifier my down stairs was between 12-15 % humidy and now, depending on how long I let it run, I can get it to read from 45-60 % humid. My Humidifier is in my Room Upstairs, which means it's reaching down stairs too. This seriously Helps my Sinus Problems, & It's a Sleep Saver for me! I think the Normal range for Humidity is between 40-55 or something like that, I don't know the Exact %, but my Tester has a Green Comfort Zone area, so I know it's in the Right level.
Why I like Evaporative over Mist (personal Opinion only)
I have a Misting humidifier and I thought it was okay but my house was Still very dry down stairs. Everything was Wet around it like Dew drops on the Grass in the mornings when I had it turned up only half way, plus I had to Refill it a lot. Also, it was humid in that one little area where the machine was, and the other rooms in the house where not effected at all. This is why I decided to buy an Evaporative Humdifier. And I am much happier with the Evaporative, the Mist Humidifier is just Sitting in the Closet now because I don't need to use it anymore. The humidifier Tester I got, also read about 15-20% downstairs when I had my Mist Humidifer on, which isn't as Good as my Evaporative readings that make my house now in the normal range.
So if you notice your nose is dry, your sinus's hurt or bleed, and you don't want Water Mist all over your Carpet...then you might look into a Evaporative Humidifier like this. If you hate it, then you can Always just Return it to the store.
