The legend of Dragoon not dragon

The Legend of Dragoon is an excellent game for rpg/adventure fans. Not only dose this game have 4 discs packed with beautifully detailed environments, the storyline is like a book, you want to get father, just to see what’s gonna happen next. This is possibly the best game I’ve ever played, and I encourage you to buy it or rent it. This game has many exciting and new features that most rpg players aren’t used to.

Leveling up
Leveling up takes a while which is a big disappointment, the only time you’ll probably level up is after you defeat a boss or a mini boss, which surprisingly there are lots of and it actually helps the storyline. Every couple of level up’s or so you gain additions and Dragoon level up’s (I’ll get into Dragoons in the next couple of paragraphs) and when you get a Dragoon level up you get a new magic spell. Leveling up also gives you more hp (hit points) and increases how much damage your attacks do.

Combat and additions
Additions is basically a fancy word for combo. An addition is when you attack someone if you press the buttons at the right time, you get another hit and more sp (I will explain sp along with Dragoons.) If you do it right you will perform the additions. It’s not has hard has you think, you will see a square appear for a second when you’re supposed to press X, and you can practice it. But if the Square turns orange, you’re supposed to press O, or they will counter attack you. And yes combat is turn based.

Dragoons
The unique system in LOD (legend of dragoon). Basically what Dragoon means is Dragon lord, or dragon controller. You aren’t always in Dragoon form though. For every level of Dragoon you get an extra turn. In order to transform into a Dragoon, you need to have full sp. Sp= spirit power, you get sp every time you hi someone, once the meter is full you can transform into a Dragoon, Basically a limit breaks. Once you are in Dragoon form you can do a number of things. One is you can attack, no additions but there’s a meter and if you press x every time it hits a certain spot you get to attack again up to 5 or 6 time, I think it depends on your level I think. And you can also you magic attacks. Some magic attacks effect all enemies and some only affect 1 and others can healy you and other members. It takes mp (magic power) to use spells. Mp can be regained by potions, I will go into items in the next paragraph. Once all your mp is gon you can’t use spells.The more powerful the spell the more mp it takes (duhh!!).

Items
There are three types of items, equipable items and unequipable items and key items. Equipable items are armor, rings, armbands, helms, weapons, magical items, and so forth. Unequipable items are healing potions, sp potions, mp potions and other various types that either cure status abnormalities, heal in some way you or your entire party. Dragon stones are key items, they let you transform into dragoons. That about wraps it up for items.

World map
Like always this game has a world map. Except on this world map you can’t explore, you have to follow a line which is a double bladed sword. You can’t get lost, but then you can’t explore.

Graphics 4.0
It has better than normal in-game graphics, and excellent FMV graphics. No bugs, no slow-downs no nothing, maybe that’s why it took three years to make. Overall I’d say the graphics are some of the best I’ve seen play station.

Sound 5.0
Great music, Great sound effects, not really anything else to write, now is there, is there!!!!.
No sound glitches, nothing wrong with the sound.

Learning curve 4.o
I had learned all I need to know in about 15 minutes which is good for advanced rpgs. The teaching system is good, very good.

Replay value 5.0
This game will have you buys for months, im on the third disc and I’ve had this game for about 7 months, the only bad thing is that one of my evil friends broke the 1st disc. I still play this game a lot.
