Author's Review
I recently purchased the Lingo Global 29, model number TR2900. It's a fairly basic translator but does support 29 different languages, many of them highly related. A few in particular are of interest to me. They are Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese and Japanese. The Japanese translation is is phonetic and this is true for some of the other languages as well. So far I've only used it for the Spanish translation and it worked well. In particular when I input ice it came back with a number of words and phrases that include ice, such as the Spanish words for ice, hielo, and the Spanish phrases used to ask for ice water, a glass of ice, and ice-cream. It also includes a calculator, an alarm, a clock with world time functionality and calendar and supports conversions with built in functions for shirt and shoe size, unit conversions and of course monetary conversions. It also has the functionality of a contacts manager. It's amazing what they can put into these things these day. It averages 20,000 words per language with 2,300 sentences or phrases. It also includes a fairly simple english dictionary.
I owned an earlier version that supported fewer languages, if I recall 16. It broke. That is one of the issues with this item and it's similarly designed cousins, they are fairly flimsy. I kept the original in a soft-sided briefcase and recently found that the LCD fractured. I will keep this in a much safer part of the briefcase for the future. It can be damaged easily, but with just a little care will last many years.
I mostly travel to the Caribbean and Mexico and so the Spanish language functionality is of most importance to me although the Dutch will prove somewhat useful as we often travel to the Dutch Caribbean islands. You should be able to find this for P or more. I don't recall seeing it for much less. I purchased mine at an ebay store, shopemco.
