Nice way to simplify multiple remotes
Pros:
Slim, easy to use, customizable settings, glow button, updatable.
Cons:
None
The Bottom Line:
The are more expensive units out there but I could not justify the added expense, this unit covers all functions of all my devices

I bought myself a new Samsung LN40A530 40" LCD tv, a Samsung BDP1500 Blu Ray player and Bell ExpressVu 6141 HD receiver, each came with its own remote.
This seemingly minor detail quickly became a major pain, constantly switching back and forth, misplacing one or another, etc.. Then I thought about the cost and future pain of 3 remotes with alternately dying batteries ....... watching tv is supposed to be enjoyable.
I came across the Logitech Harmony 550 universal remote and love it. It's a nice looking, easy to use, easy to set up solution to multiple remotes and all that goes with that.
You can connect your remote to your computer (Mac friendly, by the way) and change the settings, formats and display options in a matter of a few seconds. Updates via internet can also be obtained for free.
The Harmony 550 has an LCD screen which will display your functions, switching from device to device, along with the functions of each one. For example, my tv display has 7 'pages' of functions, my Blu Ray player has 5 'pages', my satellite receiver 8 'pages'.
I cannot think of any function for any of my devices that I am not able to control with this unit.
Volume & channel controls on either side of central navigation button above keypad.
Glow button below navigation button lights up all the keys making selections easy in darkness, without having to depress a function key, eliminates changing settings accidently. Nice!
As with most universal remotes, it may be slightly quicker at times to simply grab your device-specific remote to change some settings occasionally, however the Harmony 550 covers all functions for all devices well.
Overall, a very nice unit. No regrets.
