Wirless Mouse Disaster with the Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse
Date of Review: Oct 22, 2008
The Bottom Line: Honestly, things aren't always as they appear.
The Logitech TrackMan Cordless Wheel Mouse features a trackball that fits comfortably into your right hand. This trackball mouse is cordless, so you can put it just about anywhere on your desk within six feet of the receiver. The buttons and scroll wheel are right at your fingertips and the smooth trackball fits underneath your thumb. Optical technology delivers smooth tracking with virtually no cleaning or maintenance...for the most part. Although it is a very comfortable fit to almost any hand, this sleek silver rodent doesn't have much of a life span. It's battery life deteriorates at about 6 months, and the warranty isn't much of a help when you have to keep using it. This cordless version delivers LESS than the oh so annoying corded version: it is more cumbersome, is shorter-lived, and erratic, and it costs more. If the mouse is not within the sight-line of the remote device (which is about half the size of a mouse) it doesn't work. Sometimes the cursor moves around on its own, as if it is listening to spirit voices. And, all too often, it just doesn't work. I have to fiddle and shake the mouse and the remote. So if sleek and stylish is all you're looking for than by all means, have fun. But for the purpose of being useful, stick to the original. Sometimes that grass just isn't greener on the other side.
