Author's Review
I have been a fan of this movie since it came out. So much so, that my friends were afraid to come over, for they feared I would make them watch it, AGAIN.
Oh, I can recite the movie. Yes, indeed. Right to singin along with "People Are Strange" to , "That's the one thing I never could stomach about Santa Carla. All the damn vampires.."
And don't forget all the great quotes in between:
"Holy $hit, the attack of Eddy Munster!"
"Oh great, the blood sucking Brady Bunch"
"Death by stero"
"You think we just work at a comic book store...We're dedicated to a higher purpose, we're fighters of truth, justice and the American way..." (NOTE-I used that in a 5th grade Memorial Day Speech once...of course I left out the comic book part!)
"You're a Vampire Sammy"
"I am not"
"Then what are you, the flying nun?"
"Look at your reflection in the mirror...you creature of the night Michael. My own brother, a go* da** s*** sucking vampire! You wait till mom finds out!"
"So, we have a tv, Grandpa..."
"If you read the TV Guide, you don't need a TV."
That's one great thing about this movie. Clever writers to create timeless lines to mix in with the storyline!
The quick rundown of the story has Sammy (Corey Haim) and Michael (Jason Patric) with their recently divorced mother Lucy (Dianne Weisst)to their Grandfather's house (Jason Robards) in Santa Carla...although it's known for its boardwalk...a graffited billboard dubs it the murder capital of the world. Micheal falls for Star (Jamie Gertz), which gets him involved with David (Keifer Sitherland) and his boys. In the meantime, Lucy falls for video store owner, Max (Edward Herman?) and Sammy gets hooked up with comic book store clerks The Frog Brothers...(one played by Coery Feldman). From there, the vampire things start to happen...Sammy and the Froggs unite to save Santa Carla...and his brother. I don't want to give too much away.
There is a lot of great death scenes in the movie, but none are too terrible to stomach. It also has its funny moments, as highlighted above.
All in all, the movie really has a stellar cast!!
And, might I add...a kick butt soundtrack!!
NOTE- I bought the script to the Lost Boys 2 at a card show...It was never made, I don't think, but I have the script...good story line)
