Great Stroller for Cruising
Date of Review: Mar 17, 2008
The Bottom Line: The price is up there but highly worth it. This stroller has a wonderful design and great ease of use.
I purchased this double stroller for my identical twin girls after my other stroller broke. Now, this side-by-side stroller is great. One of my previous double strollers was the kind where the seats are behind eachother. I found this previous stroller to be big, bulky and hard to manuever. Overall, the babies will get kind of bored with being seperated. The Maclaren Twin Techno is side-by-side and is great because of it. You may think that you cannot get through the aisles of a store as easily, but this is definitely not true. It is compact enough for use everywhere, and the fact that the babies can see eachother is a huge plus. I noticed the difference right away with the contentment of my twins. I got a lot more riding time just based on this factor.
This particular model is wonderful. The wheels glide with such ease. I have had many strollers in the past, and this one is by far the best when it comes to the way it actually moves. The wheels can also lock in place which is a great additive. Sometimes you have to stop, and when you have two rambunctious twins in a stroller, you have to depend on those locking wheels to secure the stroller in place.
The harness is incredible. I haven't seen anything like it before. It is a 5 point harness and other strollers are usually 3 points. This provides maximum security and prevents your little ones from bending forward and trying to touch the ground as they are riding. Also, despite being a very intricate 5 point harness, it is actually very easy to put on. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. I love this.
The seats are washable and easy to remove. I cannot stress enought the importance of this feature. I absolutely love it. I have reservations with some seat covers because although they need washing consistantly with my kids, they tend to be so difficult to take off, put back on, or both. This is not the case with the Maclaren.
It is also very durable and has a wonderful design. Everything about it is appealing in appearance, and holds up quite well. I had one other side-by-side stroller before this one, and the metal eventually collapsed and broke. I do not see this happening with the Maclaren at all. I notice the comparable quality in this stroller and it is definitely high class.
The only thing about this stroller than can be a headache is the price. It is a little more expensive than most. But after having a double side-by-side that was middle of the road with cost, it broke soon afterwards. My twins love to sway and play with eachother while sitting next to one another, and perhaps this caused the breakage of my last. But this stroller endures all of my twins little anctics. So I would say it is worth the extra money.
