Author's Review
I recently rented Madden NFL 2000 for N64, and I have one word for it: awesome. I have seen many commercials for the football games, like NFL Extreme, where you tackle someone and the head explodes, and I can't stand those games.
If you are looking for a basic, realistic football game, look no further than Madden NFL 2000. For those of you who like to put together a "Dream Team", go to the Season setting, and trade for whoever you want. You can create players, making yourself the star quarterback of your favorite team.
All of these are the good aspects of this game, but in my mind, one stands out. The Franchise setting is for those who like the absolute realistic football game. You create a name for yourself as a coach and give yourself a team. Then you go through your first season. Think you can get by with a 1-15 record? Guess again. You'll be fired. If you don't get fired, the off season number-crunching begins. First, your old guys retire, then you must evaluate the players performance that season and decide whether or not resign them. Then comes the trading period, followed by the free-agent signing period and finally the draft. If you see a player in the draft and you have a low spot, you can trade draft picks to move up. All this, and its only your first season.
Madden NFL 2000 is by far the best football game on the market. I definitely urge everyone who is a football fan to buy it.
