It doesn't get any easier...YOU WON'T GET LOST ***UPDATES***

Date of Review:  Feb 25, 2004
The Bottom Line: Wanna stop asking for directions, stop reading map books and lower your stress while driving? Buy a GPS. Want the best one? Buy the Magellan Maestro 4040 or 4050.
Review: Want two reasons to thank the US government? They gave us the internet and GPS.

One of the biggest names in GPS is Magellan (Thales Navigation, Inc. - pronounced 'tahlis'). "Turn it on and go!" is their trademarked slogan. It truly is that...

How can it help me, when I'm in N.J. and it thinks I'm in California?

Date of Review:  Nov 30, 2004
The Bottom Line: This unit does work, but there are some tricks you have to know! Once you get the knack, it should perform fine!
Review: Well, I have written my review of the Tom Tom GPS unit, which I felt was easy to operate and offered a very clear screen! Now, I move on to the Magellan 700 to compare it to the Tom Tom, and what a shock! I had nothing but trouble with the 700!

How did I get along without this?

Date of Review:  Jun 20, 2004
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend. Roadmate 700 beats the Streepilot 2620 handily. I am addicted to not getting lost and learning new places to stop.
Review: I had a chance to compare a Magellan Roadmate 700 firmware 3.20 and a Garmin Streetpilot 2620. I chose the Roadmate 700. They both have built-in hard drives that contain all of the street level mapping data, touch screens, points of interest built...

$10 Road Atlas or $1200 gadget? UPDATE!

Date of Review:  May 7, 2004
The Bottom Line: The RM700 still seems solid. Improvements are ongoing but it seems to be a good product. Know what it really is before you buy it, and you won't be disappointed.
Review: Logical questions to ask before dropping a bit over a grand for an electronic gizmo to essentially replace a $10 map are: "Will this thing do what I expect it to do?" and "Is the technology involved reliable, and worth the additional money compared...

San Diego to Canada - How'd it Do?

Date of Review:  Apr 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: Travel without ever opening a paper map again.
Review: Recently I bought a Magellan Roadmate 700. To test it, I took a road trip with my family from San Diego to Canada and back. Having never been on such a long road trip, I wanted to see how it performed in places we ve never been before and had no...

One of the best Car Navigation Systems but has some flaws.

Date of Review:  Mar 16, 2004
The Bottom Line: Worth buying as the "best of breed" for in-car navigation systems. Still not polished enough to become the next Tivo.
Review: I've always been a fan of car navigation systems associating them with such futuristic inventions like flying cars, underwater cities and an understandable tax code.

I acquired the Magellan Roadmate 700 from a local retailer (Circuit City)...

Wish I'd chosen a different brand

Date of Review:  Dec 3, 2006
The Bottom Line: There's better choices at any price. Even if you see this dud at a big discount, stay away.
Review: Chose this unit after checking the reviews - it was highly rated so I went ahead and bought it. Initial setup went easily enough and the unit worked well. First sign of problems came when I received a letter informing me that an upgrade was...

Magellan finds its way into my car!

Date of Review:  Oct 8, 2006
The Bottom Line: A great modern guidance system that allows the driver to not worry about where they are and how they are going to get there.
Review: Magellan finds its way into my car.

My first GPS was a street pilot color. The very first GPS with a color screen. I paid $1000 for the unit PLUS $100 or so for the CD software PLUS another $125 or so for the 16 meg (that s MEG) of flash...

Fearless driving at last!

Date of Review:  Oct 20, 2006
The Bottom Line: I wholeheartedly recommend this product for the peace of mind it gives you while driving.
Review: I bought mine for 4 reasons: (1) road signage in Wisconsin is awful; (2) I get very anxious when I get lost; (3) the price has dropped down to around $300; and (4) most of the reviews have been very positive.

When I got the unit, I plugged...

Erase the word "LOST" from your dictionary!!

Date of Review:  Jan 28, 2005
The Bottom Line: In a nutshell, this product does so much more than just get you to your destination ... try it and you'll be hooked! It's a purchase you won't regret!
Review: There are few products that simply do what they claim to do, and it's even rarer to find something as sophisticated, yet easy to use as the Roadmate 700.

I've owned this product for exactly a month now, and I am a total convert! I should...
