Martha Stewart Weddings: The Magazine for the Hands-On Bride
Date of Review: Nov 19, 2007
The Bottom Line: Martha Stewart Weddings is one of the best wedding magazines out there. Excellent for any bride, but especially useful to the hands-on bride that loves the little details.
Being engaged has been an exciting time, full of many new experiences. Planning the biggest party I will likely ever throw has also resulted in experiencing the wonderful world of bridal magazines. In my collection of bridal magazines,
Martha Stewart Weddings certainly stands out.
Content If you have read any of my previous bridal magazine reviews, you will see a trend. Every magazine has tons of ads. This magazine is no different. There are ads for gowns, bridesmaid dresses, makeup, personalized apparel, invitations, favors, rings, vendors, honeymoons and much more.
This magazine also has plenty of general advice about wedding planning. There are articles about planning and questions and answers about etiquette. Each issue includes an eight page wedding workbook, which is supposed to act as a planning guide. It has checklists for your planning with a timeline to keep you on track. It includes an outline for building your budget. It has a structure for planning your guest list and seating arrangements. It even includes a checklist to give your photographer, listing the must take photos.
There are plenty of more focused articles. You ll find articles that focus on the flowers, the reception, the cake, the attire and much more. Photos are plentiful and they provide a tremendous amount of ideas for every aspect of your wedding. The photos are both magazine photos of ideas they came up with and real wedding photos. These are well presented in several page spreads that show many different details of the same wedding.
How It Differs From Other Bridal Magazines Martha Stewart Weddings is an excellent magazine for the hands-on bride. Martha provides tons of do-it-yourself ideas, complete with instructions, diagrams, and photos for the crafty bride. You will find tips on doing your own flowers, making your own place cards, and much more. If you re not the crafty-type, it is also great for the bride who wants a part in every little wedding detail. Martha has pictures and ideas for every little detail of your wedding; table numbers, favors, centerpieces, pew decorations, signature cocktails, and more. It is perfect for the bride who wants to micro-manage every detail of her wedding.
I find the ideas and articles in this magazine to be unique and helpful. The photos encompass a wide range of styles, providing ideas for the romantic and classic wedding, the modern and casual wedding, and any style in between. There are ideas for any theme you can imagine.
Cost Martha Stewart Weddings is a whole $.04 cheaper than other bridal magazines at $5.95 per issue. It is printed quarterly and runs about 400 pages.
Overall Recommendation This is the wedding magazine that every bride should have. While the ads will be more useful at the beginning of your planning, unlike every other magazine, the ideas and articles in this magazine will be helpful throughout your wedding planning.
Martha Stewart Weddings will definitely give you the most bang for your buck.
