Author's Review
Marx toys was a major force in the world of toys when tin was king. This book explores the history of this toy company through some if most famous toys. Specifically, the book looks at the toy robots, space ships, astronauts, and comic characters produced by Marx Toys the 50s to the 1970s.
What's different about this book, from other toy collectors books, is that a lot of attention is actually paid to the history of the toy company. Sure, the book provides estimates values for the toy liek the rest of the books do, but it gives so you much more. The first section of the book provides a brief history of the Louis Marx company and its beginnings. Then the book is split into its 3 most popular cross-section of toys; robot and space, monsters, and characters.
Each section provides a brief history based on research and even interviews with past employees. The toys are well documented with pictures included. The only negative is the number of toys. The book looses the ability to cram hundreds of toys in the book because of the detail paid to each toy. On the plus side, the book concentrates ion the most popular Marx toys.
I would recommend this to any toy collector or even a non-collector that has fond memories of growing up with Marx toys.
