Think Twice!

We purchased this microwave in a Bisque color to match the new Maytag oven we installed during a complete Kitchen remodel, September 2006.

It cooks very quickly, which is not a bad thing. The directions on the backs of food packages should be adjusted down to prevent overcooking.

There is a separate menu for warming, reheating and cooking several different types of foods....but most of those we don't utilize since they just don't apply to what we are reheating or warming. We do use the Popcorn option and the Baked Potato option, though, and the foods come out perfect without overcooking or undercooking.

The big problem is that the Sound on the timer can not be adjusted. It has an option for OFF and ON, only. "On" is barely audible. If a person is standing right by it with no other noise going on, you "might" be able to detect a slight beeping. This makes the "kitchen timer" totally unusable.

The Maytag repairman says, "It is what it is." Either he doesn't want to repair it because it would be a pain and mean uninstalling it (like maybe something in the dashboard of a car) or else, it really is what it is. It wasn't in the beginning. But somewhere along the way, the sound decreased drastically.
