Author's Review
Not only are we still waiting for parts a month after it broke down, we were told, by our service agent, a back-order Maytag part has a 30-60 day lead time. Our refrigerator has the same ice dispenser/electronics related problems that cause everything else to stop working. If you're wondering what it's like to have your refrigerator break down, imagine your family's camping- at home. Unless you think you'd enjoy living out of ice-chests for an indefinite period of time, DO NOT BUY MAYTAG! What is Maytag's response to our dilemma? Nothing really. Maytag did say they were sorry and admitted they were having quality issues with our particular model. Well, maybe they should consider a recall or make these parts more readily available or show some respect for their customers. When the refrigerator was purchased we got the extended service contract offered by THE HOME DEPOT. THE HOME DEPOT told us their extended warranty policy is to fix or replace however, the Replacement Program fine print reads, "available only for products with a retail price under [$300]. Don't be lured into buying this refrigerator for any reason. Remember the Maytag Repairman commercials? The repairman with nothing to do because Maytag was so reliable. Don't be fooled.
