Adventure Men of the Outdoors! Sick of scantily-clad babes?! Come this way!

by   atrigaux ,   Dec 21, 1999

Pros:  No babes! Serious adventure travel reporting

Cons:  No babes! Narrow subject matter

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Standing out in a crowded field of 'Cosmo for men' mags populated by Maxim, P.O.V., Gear, Bikini, Details etc. etc. etc. is Men's Journal, a breath of fresh mountain air in the men's lifestyle mag. market.

In a nutshell? Heavy on adventure travel, light on the babes. You will not find Alyssa Milano slutted up on the cover of Men's Journal, and you will not find Sarah Michelle Gellar beckoning with come-hither eyes (and requisite halter top). You will find first-person reports from the Matterhorn, Patagonia, deep within the Amazon and from all across the United States. Recent features have included a very literate 'Men's 100 must-own books'.

If you're looking for quality articles on the Great Outdoors, 'men's men' (e.g. Harrison Ford) and the like and have gotten your fill of 18 year old Lolita-esque babes from your other 18 subscriptions, Men's Journal is a quality read.
