Pros: good looking, low-speed handling
Cons: some quality and ergonomic issues, gas mileage, power
The Bottom Line: A good-looking vehicle that remains undeniably a truck, the Montero Sport scores lowest in the performance, ergonomic design, and interior quality areas.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: There was a front-page story in USA Today a couple of weeks ago (16 August 2002) about how airlines are feeling the pinch as short-hop passengers decide to drive instead of putting up with the longer lines and waits at the airports. One of...

Pros: Distinctive looks, composed ride, great visibility, good build quality, good value for XLS models.
Cons: Where's the V8? Poor mileage, wallowy handling, price climbs significantly with Limited model.
The Bottom Line: It's a much improved Montero for 2001, and quite an attractive package. Still, it needs more power and better handling before I'd consider it over other options.

Review: You know you're an hopeless Epinions addict and car fanatic when... you're going on vacation to Breckenridge for a week, renting a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero excites you almost as much as the skiing itself. Does this profile match any nutcases out...

Pros: Redesigned to take the first spot among SUVs in its category; Roomier and heavier; Nifty features
Cons: Weighs a bit too much...about 6000 pounds; pedals are kind of close; Steering whell placement
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: The first looks show the curves and bulges. You may be asking yourself whether it is bigger. Yes, it is! It is clear that the Japanese SUVs are making their mark on our roads. For the most part, a lot of them have had a good track record. The 2001...

Pros: Great Off Road, Styling, Roomy, 3rd Row Seat
Cons: Truck Like Ride, Too Big, Poor Handling, Poor Fuel Economy, Too Expensive
The Bottom Line: The Montero simply can't offer off-road prowess and on-road civility. Sadly, the Montero Limited is a disappointment.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: The recently redesigned Montero seeks to carve a small slice of the American SUV pie out for itself. Although a more capable off-roader than many others in its class, the Montero has some shortcomings ON the road.

Pros: Very comfortable, good visibility, good looks, smooth shifting
Cons: A little underpowered, odd turning characteristics, a lot of sway
The Bottom Line: A good combination of agility, function, and looks make this a very capable little SUV for the average buyer.
