Excellent phone, great sound quality & a bargain!

The Bottom Line: Based on the price and features of this phone-package, I HIGHLY recommend it. Its digital 5.8Ghz operation is "the latest" in phone technology. Clarity=amazing; features=outstanding.
I purchased the MD7161-3 (3 handsets) from Office Max when it was on sale for $59.99. It's a $120 phone package..for about half the price, so...it's a steal. I bought on-line from Office Max's website as the local store did not have this phone in-stock.
The clarity is GREAT; NO interference or static. I also have my old 900Mhz phone hooked up in my kitchen (on same line) and there is no interference whatsoever. In addition, I have broadband/cable internet, so...can't comment on the issue of this phone not working with DSL or dial-up (as some reviewers have mentioned).
I've seen some negative reviews on these phones with regard to battery issues and I'm kinda surprised. I've had LENGTHY talk times with these phones with no battery issues at all. I've had this/these phone(s) for about a month with no problems.
The handsets are small with no physical antenna. They come with optional belt clips (for each handset) and each handset can be used as a speakerphone (GREAT feature!). Also, each handset has an earphone jack to be used with a headset. I tried to use my Verizon Wireless ear-bud, but it did not work. No biggie.
You need only to hook the answering machine/base up to the phone line; the other handsets require just ac power. This is cool because you can put these handsets in virtually any room without having to have phone-jacks available.
I have voice-mail through my phone company, so I can't really comment on the features of the digital answering machine.
I initially said this phone did not have a way to turn down/off the ringer, but I was WRONG. I found out today (by chance) that you can access the ringer and turn it down or OFF. So much for reading the manual thoroughly! My apologies if this comment deterred anyone from picking up one of these great phones (updated 6.29.07).
So...this is a GREAT phone...and I got it for a great price. The clarity is exceptional. The headset and speakerphone features really pulled me in on this purchase. It was a bargain at almost half the normal price. I'm more than completely satisfied with this purchase.
