Great phone but No good with AT&T

I loved the looks and features of the phone. I was looking for a phone with GPS that was not clumsy like the smartphones.This is really a great phone with style. The reception is great, so is the voice quality, especially compared to motorola's earlier phones. It's packed with a 2Mpg camera above average quailty camera. The slider design is good for people like me that do not like the clam shell phones. The great bright screen is really great even in bright day light but showed a lot of finger prints on it. The mp3 player was very good with an improved sound quality.Having used motorola phones for some time, I just loved this one with all the new features, ease of use and functionality.
However the GPS works only with a $10 ATT Nav subscription and not with any other GPS and map software. You would also have to subscribe for a data plan on top of that. What's worse, the GPS would not work where you don't have phone reception for above mentioned obvious reasons.That is completely nonsense, they must think that people use GPS only in cities. I returned the phone because I don't want to spend so much money just for GPS when there are so many phones out there today that would allow free software and maps to do the same. It's a shame that AT&T is doing this to their customers. I'll probably switch to another service provider once my plan with them is over. I don't understand why motorola would allow anything like this. If I had to pay so much for a dataplan and ATT Nav I would rather buy an Iphone and not a moto Z9. I just hated having to send the phone back.
