by  ladyhawk2_99 ,  Dec 6, 2004
44 out of 44 people found this review helpful.
Pros: *Guifenesin only
Cons: *Cost
*Bitter taste
The Bottom Line: Ounce for ounce, it would be cheaper to eat silver nuggets, but Mucinex helps with mucus.

Review: I suffer from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, which means that the stuff from my middle ear doesn't drain properly. God knows why, but hasn't told my physicians. The results range from stuffy ears or muffled or hollow hearing to searing ear or throat...

A one trick pony that didn't do that trick too well for me

by  PattyTherre ,  Apr 9, 2005
55 out of 56 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Almost anyone over the age of 12 can take this, no drowsiness or jitters
Cons: Doesn't really effectively clear the head of congestion as it claims
The Bottom Line: This is best for those who can't take traditional cold or flu remedies. I didn't find it helped my severe head congestion much at all.

Review: Spring is in the air. The grass is finally green. The sun is shining. And I am sick. This is not a new concept. I seem to get sick whenever the seasons change (and often for no reason at all!). This time, I have a whopper of an inner ear problem...

Pros: It works fast and does the job!

Review: I have allergies and deal with sinus pressure and congestion. I also have a condition called SVT (Supra Ventricular Tachacardia) - in english this translates to a fast heartbeat. Some medicines, such as those found in certain antihistamines and...

$10 Mucinex Works better than $100 DR. visits

by  elgatolocorojo ,  Mar 8, 2005
17 out of 17 people found this review helpful.
Pros: It works. Don't know why. But it does.
Cons: Is rather pricey. Pills melt as soon as they hit tongue- YUCK!
The Bottom Line: I'm already recommending it to my mother in law, so if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for you! This stuff worked when prescriptions and steroid shots failed.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Seriously. I have been sick with chest congestion that travels up to my sinus and back down again on and off since November 2003. Every once in awhile, I'd share it with hubby and he'd give it right back. And it is now March 2005. I've been to the...

Mucinex: Decongestant and Expectorant Effects without the Side Effects

by  mariamd ,  Jan 15, 2005
16 out of 16 people found this review helpful.
Pros: No palpitations, minimal drug interactions, safe for people with hypertension
Cons: expensive, large pills, bitter taste
The Bottom Line: Definitely try this if you have a great deal of facial pressure and congestion, especially if pseudephedrine and antihistamines are not helping. Good additive agent to these medications.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: What is Mucinex?

Mucinex is an extended release product whose main ingredient is guafenesin. This is a "mucolytic" agent, which means that it thins the secretions (mucus) that cause those nasty side effects of congestion and thick sputum...

Pros: Does take away some symptoms of a cough

The Bottom Line: I paid too much money for nothing.

Review: Mucinex Expectorant appeared to have the correct components to help relieve my sickness. I was drug down with a nasty cough for roughly 2 months. Sleep was a major problem since I spent 1\3 of the nighttime sitting up in my bed coughing...

Recommended by colleague and doctor. . . works!

by  sshelle ,  Mar 1, 2008
14 out of 14 people found this review helpful.
Pros: breaks up the mucus, allows you to get some sleep
Cons: only for those 12 and older
The Bottom Line: I recommend this as a "core" component of any medicine cabinet, especially for those prone to allergies, bronchitis, or pneumonia.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: You know how sometimes you hear about something new to you twice within just a few days? Or two entirely different people give you the same advice for treating something, and it's different than anything you've ever done before? That's what recently...

by  craig721 ,  May 25, 2005
13 out of 13 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Works as directed
Cons: Expensive- buy the "generic"
The Bottom Line: 1) don't take if you're a moron 2) don't expect miracles from a one trick pony 3) find a cheaper brand if possible
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This product contains the same active ingredient as the good ol' stuff you used to take as a kid, Robitussin DM, without the unnecessary suppresant.

I have asthma and have generally taken this when getting over a virus, and the only...
