Antics in Florida

Date of Review:  Mar 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: It's not your conventional suspense/murder mystery novel, but very entertaining
Review: Writer Carl Hiaasen is an investigative journalist and columnist for the Miami Herald. As such his books have a tendency to be set in Florida, particularly in the Miami area. They are not exactly a series, in that they do not have a recurring main...

"And I thought WE were scumballs." - Carl Hiaasen's Native Tongue

Date of Review:  Jun 3, 2009
The Bottom Line: Native Tongue is a hilarious Florida-based crime novel. Hiaasen sets the tone for Dorsey and Barry's efforts.
Review: Mayhem. That s what s happening in North Key Largo, Florida. Things have pretty much gotten way out of control; the entire area is one big, accelerating ball of chaos. Tractors are being blown up. The last pair of blue tongued mango voles has been...

Native Tongue, A Whimsical Mystery by Carl Hiaasen

Date of Review:  Feb 28, 2004
The Bottom Line: Elmore Leonard is good. So is Christopher Buckly and Joe Klien but nobody tops Carl Hiassen for being OVER THE TOP!
Review: When it come to satire, Carl Hiaasen, a tongue in cheek editorialist for the Miami Herald is a master. Likewise with his dozen or so improbable novels.

This review is about my personal favorite novel from the amusingly wacky mind of...

Native Tongue

Date of Review:  Feb 20, 2008
The Bottom Line: i would recommend it because its a great book
Review: I myself did not purchase this book. A friend did. My friend got this book at a used book store read it and thought I would enjoy it, which I did. It has a humorous start that does not fully make sense at first but later on it clicks into place. The...
