Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About: An Eye Opening Read

Date of Review: May 25, 2008

The Bottom Line:  Kevin Trudeau raises public awareness about the need to be careful of who we trust to have our best interests at heart.
A couple of weeks ago a co-worker and I were talking, and he mentioned that his wife was really interested in an author named Kevin Trudeau. I had never heard of him. My co-worker told me a bit of information and mentioned the book Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About. I am a book fanatic, and I have always liked the concept of natural cures and medicines over synthetic ones so it was quite natural for me to go online and look for this book.

Not only did I find this book (as well as two others); I also found there was a great deal of controversy about Kevin Trudeau. My interest became even more piqued. My life experience has taught me that often things that cause a great deal of controversy also have a great deal of truth inside; it is common for opponents to scream as loud as possible if they want to distract the audience from the information they oppose. Was this the case with Mr. Trudeau's book? I decided to find out for myself. I went to Half.com and ordered three of his books.

The first to arrive was Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About. I settled down to read and was not only immediately hooked; I was also unnerved and disturbed by what I was reading.

About the Author

Basic Premise

Kevin Trudeau points out some concepts in this book; concepts that are downright scary when one starts to really think about them. As an example, he discusses the connection between the pharmaceutical industry and big money. Just what incentive do the drug companies have to make us well? They would indeed lose money if there was no sickness.

This is not the first book that has alluded to corruption in the FDA and the government in general; money makes the country go round and there are many unscrupulous people who will do anything to make a fast buck; even hurt people.

Natural medicine is always in general going to be far superior to synthetic medicine, in my opinion. It is important to remember that most synthetic cures are predicated on natural cures. Humans just have a habit of wanting to make everything better; and in the process, is it just perhaps possible, that we have made things worse? I use natural medicine whenever possible and avoid both prescription and over-the-counter medicines as much as possible.

Food additives are making the food we eat unhealthy. This is not new information; there have been numerous articles and books written about the topic. From this book I learned that not all ingredients are on the labels, and I found that disturbing. I went to the FDA website and this is indeed true information.

Good Information and My Thoughts

Much of what is included in this book is simply good common sense. Exercise, eat as healthy as possible, avoid drugs and things that are bad for you. Unfortunately for the pharmaceutical and food industries, following these rules can severely cut into their profits.

I have long been concerned with the quality of the food we eat. A couple of years ago we purchased a half of a grain fed beef, and the flavor of the meat was incredible. Unfortunately, the beef purchased in the grocery store does not have the same flavor; if it has any real flavor at all. The grain fed beef is a much healthier choice, and I will be buying one this fall.

Another good point made by Mr. Trudeau is the ridiculous advertising campaign by the pharmaceutical industry. It is impossible to watch a television show without being bombarded by commercials for various drugs. My husband and I always laugh as they give the side effects; such as serious illness or death in most cases. Please. I suffer from insomnia, but I am not going to take a sleeping pill that could cause death. Better to do some deep breathing and meditation. Of course, that method is not going to be popular with the pharmaceutical industry because they want to sell their drugs and make money.

Negative

I found it frustrating to be consistently referred to the web site for natural cures, although I certainly understand why Kevin Trudeau did not put them in his book. He has been a target for a long time, and it only makes sense on his part to avoid anything that could possibly increase his being a target. I did go to the website, but I am not quite ready to pay the $10.00 a month to have full access to it. At least not until I have completed my own research on the issues he raised in this book.

Final Thoughts

I think any book that raises awareness and causes people to sit up and ask questions is a good book. Any book that causes controversy is likely to be a good book because again, it causes thought. Too many times we blindly follow whatever we are told by the authorities without thinking it through for ourselves.

I remember many years ago, when my doctor said he was going to prescribe an antibiotic for one of my children. I asked if there was an alternative treatment. My doctor looked at me in surprise, then rattled off a couple of alternative treatments. Which worked, as a matter of fact. I am proud today when I go into my doctor's office and see signs that proclaim "antibiotics do not cure everything." While the drug companies might not like their reduced sale of antibiotics, I think it is a step in the right direction to stop taking them for everything.

Some of the negative things I read about Kevin Trudeau included his being a convicted felon. This information is touted as if it really means something and makes the information he provides in his book suspect. Being a criminal justice professional, my stance is that a felon who goes on to engage in legal behavior, as Kevin Trudeau has done, is a success story. That is the whole goal of the criminal justice system; turn criminal behavior into proactive behavior. Good for Mr. Trudeau.

If you are interested in living a healthier lifestyle and are concerned with the safety of our food and medications, Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About is a good reference book. As with any book, it is important to take what one can use and discard the rest. I found this book to be incredible food for thought and as a result am making definitely lifestyle changes.

I found my copy of Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About on Half.com. The ISBN number is 0-9755995-0-X.
