For those considering upgrading to the D300 from either the D80 or D200, there's one feature that will win you over: the 51 point 3D autofocus. With it you can lock-on your focus on moving subjects in a way that was never possible before. I was able to capture many great macro shots with this feature as the focus lock on to the flower even when there's slight wind conditions.
