Review: Nikon is famous for countless superlatives in its contribution to the development of 35mm SLR photography. Among them are its legendary macro lenses near the 50mm or "normal" focal length. These lenses, dubbed Micro Nikkors, have been a reason many...

Nikon's 60mm 2.8D AF is a macro marvel, but not without some minor problems.

Date of Review:  Jun 11, 2004
The Bottom Line: Recommended for its excellent optical quality, 1:1 reproduction ratio, and light weight. One of the best 35mm macro lenses available.
Review: In search of a good normal macro lens for my Nikon FM3A, I did a lot of research online, talked to several professional photographers, and found that two lenses were consistently mentioned: the Nikon 55mm 2.8 AIS, and the Nikon 60mm 2.8 D AF...

a great beginner macro lens ....even better on a digital back

Date of Review:  Sep 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: A great general purpose macro lens for those who don't want or need to specialize in that field. Great "bang for the buck"
Review: Macro work is one of those things that most photographers would like to try. There are many ways to achieve the closer focus necessary for macro work...from extension tubes to bellows and even reversing rings. The best method for the beginner who...

An awesome standard macro lens

Date of Review:  Sep 6, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is a truly superb micro/macro lens that is also excellent for landscapes and general photography.
Review: The Nikon 60mm F2.8 AFD micro lens is a standard prime (i.e. ~50mm focal length) with the ability to focus to life size (1:1) where the size of the image on film matches the size of the subject.

Mechanics
The lens has traditional...

Used and still a top performer

Date of Review:  Jun 8, 2004
Review: I bought my used and it is by far my top quality lens in my bag. The very first shots I took were close ups of a tea bag and ear plug and the rendition was astonishing. You could see the cross hatching in the tea bag cover. Everyone in Photo class...

Don't bother with a "normal" lens

Date of Review:  Nov 30, 2004
Review: I bought this reasonably priced lens for close-up work. The detail in close-ups is outstanding! But what is special about this lens is that it can be used for general photography--I have used it for scenics with crystal-clear results, no matter what...
