Product Review

Top of the line..Get one now!

by   dangray ,   Jan 1, 2003

Pros:  Nikon quality, all Nikon lenses will work. Image quality very good.

Cons:  Doesn't come with a lens, or any compact flash. Demo software 30 day trial.

The Bottom Line:  Nikon supports the photographer. I sold all my Canon equip when Canon went autofocus and switched lens mounts, making all my manual lenses useless.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

The Nikon D100 has lived up to gadgetman's expectations. I read plenty of reviews on dpreview.com, so you might want to look there too. I really like the feel of the camera, but it improved even more when I added the optional portrait grip that costs $235 and requires you buy an extra battery $45. If you have smaller hands, you won't want the grip. I like a heavy camera (sick, I know) and the grip also has a built in voice recorder for recording memos as I shoot. The camera doesn't come with any compact flash. This camera is really for the serious amateur or pro photographer. It has a lot of features that the average joe wouldn't use, so why pay for it? The PC Sinc is hidden, some think there isn't one! I bought a
higher quality compact flash card along with a "normal" card, but I can't tell any difference in the write (saving) speed. Save your cash and buy the good (normal) qf cards.
