Author's Review
Every knows you will never top the original Mario Kart for Nintendo 64, but this game gives it a run for it's money. I bought Mario Kart: Double Dash mainly for it's multiplayer aspects, but I found that it is quite fun to play single player as well. Mario Kart: Double Dash allows you to choose from many forms of competing, from Battles to the actual cups where you can compete to win prizes. The single player mode allows you to play through the many available cups, which each present their own fun tracks that present a different challenge every time you play it. The benefits of playing the game on single player are it's rewards, when you are playing single to two players and you complete a cup, you have the chance to win prizes such as new levels, Karts, or characters.
One of Mario Kart: Double Dashs better feature, is it offers a wider variety of characters that were not offered in the first game such as: Baby Mario, Baby luigi or Boo the Ghost. There are designated specialties to each character, specialties that can turn a race around in a heart beat and allows for a more dramatic race. The fact that you can choose two characters for your Kart opens up more possibilities than the original game offered.
My personal favorite part of Mario Kart: Double Dash is it's multiplayer set: there is nothing better on a rainy day than to get a bunch of your buddies and play four player Mario Kart. Mario Kart is a good social game, and can entertain Family or friends for hours.
The only down side to Mario Kart is that it was too short, there were not enough levels to keep me occupied for very long. But it is an addicting game and will keep you plugged in to your game cube all day and night.
