Author's Review
I currently own a 1999 Sentra SE-L (read my other review), and I was faced with the dilema of whether to keep my current car, or to trade my less than 1 year old car in for a 2000.
Call me stupid, call me foolish, why am I trading a perfectly good car in for another car of the same make, and model, just a different year??
Well, let me fill you in. The 2000 Sentra beats my car head to toe.
For performance the horsepower has been increased from 140hp to 145hp for the 2.0 SE models, and the 1.6liter models no longer exist. The new 1.8liter engine offers a improved horsepower of 126hp. A 16" alloy wheel is now an option for the SE models, as well as the Viscious Limited-Slip Differential that distributes tourque to the wheels with the most traction. This car performs like a G20 (the SE Model), but it will outrun it because of the weight/hp ratio.
Interior Wise, the car is roomier, because it is remodeled to be longer and wider than the older models. Inside there are map lights, extra 12V outlet, 7 speaker Clarion audio system, reorganized climate control and stereo so that the cups holder are no longer useless (the older models had the stereos covered when anything was put in the cup holders). It has an armrest which is a big plus, as well as an 8-way adjustable drivers seat. The interior also features a digital odometer. The cruise control has been modified so that the on and off switch doesn't hide behind the steering, rather is is on the steering. For the automatics, the shifter looks luxurious. The dash now also offers a storage like those featured on many infinities. There is also a sunglass storage, where the map lights are featured.
The exterior looks like a mini maxima, and on the SE, a dual tipped exhaust is standard. Also, there is now a trunk opener on the keyless entry remote.
The car does not look like the cheap compact car that it is suppose to be. And this car does not have a single part that resembles the older Sentras. I believe that this car is going to persuade a lot of Altima buyers otherwize.
This car beats all its competitors hands down. In performance, styling, and price.
Only downside? The car is a little bit noisy when accelerating to high speeds.
