Author's Review
When it came to moving up in car size from a Toyota Corolla LE (2003 Model) we looked at the Camry, Accord and the Altima. The Corolla had served us well and we had also previously owned a 1995 Sentra which was unbelievably reliable.
Amongst the three my wife liked the styling on the Altima best, but when we took it for the test drive that's when we were really sold on its fit for us.
We initially had a look at the SE 3.5L V6, and the responsiveness of the 250hp engine was great. There is a lot of room, the trim was nice and somewhat sporty, and it handled well. Great trunk space.
When the color (black) with leather seats in the SE model we looked at the SE-R, with its 260hp, stock 18" wheels (and low profile tires), 4 wheel disk brakes, rear spoiler and more aggressive looking sports bumper were great additions to a somewhat subtle sporty car. This car does have some pep to it esp when you are already on the go and need to accelerate quickly. Seats are very nice to sit in. Bose system is great, esp with the steering wheel controls.
The only drawbacks are the somewhat too responsive steering when accelerating hard from standing start probably because this car is front-wheel drive. So you do need to know that there will be some response on the steering wheel but its something you get accustomed to pretty quickly. The mileage could be better but it is a V6 3.5L so I am not too unhappy.
Currently, after driving it for nearly 500miles, we are getting about 19 miles per gallon city cycle.
Nissan definitely make cars that are very conducive for driving.
