Product Review

Not For Me :(

by   cgraves ,   May 31, 2008

Pros:  Quiet, comfortable to hold, 60 day money back guarantee.

Cons:  Patchy, slow motor, pulls at hair, takes too long to shave.

The Bottom Line:  If you have never experienced problems with electrics this might be a great shaver, but if you have a tough beard, avoid this product.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

If you are one of those people who have never had issues with electrics then this may be a great product, but for my tough beard it's not a good shaver. I think the main problem is that the motors spin too slow, and it pulls at my hair more than cutting it. I also find that I have to make several slow passes over each area, with the result being a smooth shave in some places, rough and and patchy in overs. It takes longer to achieve this than having a wet shave, and I have to finish with a normal razor anyway. To make it worse, I cannot shave a second time as the motor slows downs with battery drain and pulls even more.

There are good things about this razor: the battery life is good if the speed isn't an issue, it's quiet and it shaves close in the areas it can cope with. It also fits well into my hand and is comfortable to operate. The best thing (at least here in Canada) is that Philips offer a 60 day satisfaction guarantee so that you can get a refund (minus the postage).

I just replaced mine with a high-end Panasonic Pro-Curve Nano wet/dry shaver - my first shave was with foam, and left a smooth, even finish that rivals my Fusion. I am not going back to the Philips/Norleco range again.
