Better than a tape recorder for Forestry Work!!

Pros: Speed of downloads, convenience and immediate queing with voice acivation.

Cons: File naming sucks on the recorder but fairly easy with the DSS Software

As a professional forester, I have found handheld data recorders are fine for 2 man crews- if one man does nothing but input data with a plastic stylus (which is impossible to find if you drop it!). A tape recorder has always been faster, but not very convenient.

The DS-2 has the ability to download files/ folders quickly to a PC which makes it ideal to secure data. Saved files can be converted to .wav format which is emailable.

Durability has been great- just do not get it wet! Zip lock bags allow use in the rain- just talk louder!
