One Tree Hill - Season One
Pros:
The story, the characters, the acting, the music.... need I say more?
Cons:
none
The Bottom Line:
One Tree Hill is a great show that I highly recommend. However, it is probably not a show for younger kids, as it contains some sexuality and some mature content.

Author's Review
As some of you may know, One Tree Hill is one of my favorite shows on TV. I never thought that I would buy a television series on DVD, but this is just one that I had to have.
The Characters
I think that the characters need to be described before discussion about the story, as the discussion would be sort of difficult without knowing the characters beforehand. This is just an overview of the relationship of the characters to one another (some of these relationships change throughout the season however, this is just how things are to start with).
Lucas Scott played by Chad Michael Murray (Gilmore Girls, Dawsons Creek, House of Wax, A Cinderella Story) is the pensive, intelligent, basketball loving son of Dan Scott and Karen Roe. Half-Brother to Nathan Scott.
Nathan Scott played by James Lafferty (Annabelles Wish) is the star basketball player at Tree Hill High School. The son of Dan and Deb Scott. Half-brother to Lucas Scott (as mentioned previously).
Dan Scott played by Paul Johansson (Lonesome Dove: The Series, John Q, Darkness Falling) the former High School love of Karen Roe, current husband of Deb Scott. He is the kind of person that always has to win and have things his way. He pushes his son Nathan to win, win, win (and not in a nice way). He has had nothing to do with his other son Lucas since he was born. Owns a car dealership. Was once the star player of the Tree Hill High School basketball team.
Deb Scott played by Barbara Alyn Woods (Striptease, The Wild Card) is the wife of Dan Scott (that however, does not mean that she has to like him.)
Keith Scott played by Craig Sheffer (A River Runs Through It, Prodigal Son) is the brother to Dan Scott. He is also great friends with Karen Roe and like a father-figure to Lucas Scott. Owns a Body Shop.
Peyton Sawyer played by Hilarie Burton (TRL on MTV) is the brooding, misunderstood girlfriend of Nathan Scott. Also a cheerleader at Tree Hill High. An artist and music lover.
Haley James played by Bethany Joy Lenz (Bring It On Again, Thinner) is the best friend to Lucas Scott.
Brooke Davis played by Sophia Bush (Van Wilder) is the best friend of Peyton Sawyer. Also a cheerleader at Tree Hill High School.
Karen Roe played by Moira Kelly (The Lion King, Chaplin, With Honors) is the mother of Lucas Scott. Owns a restaurant.
Whitey Durham played by Barry Corbin (Timequest, Blackwater Elegy, The Dukes of Hazzard) is the coach of the Tree Hill Ravens High School basketball team.
The Story
The story mainly revolves around Lucas Scott and Nathan Scott in a small town called Tree Hill. Nathan is the star basketball player for the Tree Hill High School Ravens, that is until his half brother Lucas joins the team at the urging of the team coach. Nathan does everything that he can to make the life of Lucas miserable, but Lucas is a determined young man with many people that support him, and he does not give up on his dream because of Nathan.
Meanwhile, the other characters start to be intertwined into the two boys lives like never before. Lucas befriends Peyton Sawyer (Nathan's girlfriend) and Nathan starts tutoring, only to be tutored by Haley (Lucas's best friend). Many other twists and turns further change the story from how it was in the beginning, and the characters turn out in a way that you would never expect from the start. However, I dont want to reveal too many details about the plot (yes, if I say much more, than I would ruin the story). Even revealing some of the background information of the characters would ruin it, so I will leave it where it stands.
The Reason that I Love This Show
One Tree Hill is sort of a drama for young adults, but even my mom loves this show (I recommended it and she has been watching it ever since). It reminds one of how high school was and how everything was such a drama (relationships, popularity), but it also reminds one of the importance of friendships.
This show relates how everything in a persons life can change in a split second and the consequences of those changes and the consequences of ones choices (even though it is more drama than my life has ever had in it, you can still see the importance of living life before it is too late). It is a show that you get caught up in and you just cant wait to find out what happens next.
Another reason that I love this show is the music, there is some really great music on the show, and also a guest appearance by musicians such as Gavin DeGraw and Sheryl Crow.
