Excellent carrier for active babies and families!

We were given a Snugli when our daughter was born. I attempted to use it a few times to get housework done when she was about a month old and I found it incredibly difficult to get her in and out of it, especially if she was sleeping. As well, she did not feel very secure in it.

After that I bought a Pea Pod Creations Cuddly Wrap and used it with her facing me for about two months. This is a nice soft wrap carrier, but it is hard to wrap on the go because it is so long it drags on the ground. As well, if your baby is very active, with flapping arms and legs, they will loosen the wrap often and you have to keep retying it.

So when she was 3.5 months old I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Baby Bjorn because everyone in Calgary seems to have one here. And now I know why! It is worth the $130 CAN. The second day we had it we went on an 11 km hike in the Rocky Mountains and I had no problem carrying the baby in the Bjorn the whole way up the mountain and down! Since we bought it I use it for Grocery shopping, housework and taking public transit. We have gone on three more mountain hikes with it as well. It is easy to put on and take off while you are holding the baby, which I think is a must. We decided to also buy the drool bibs so that when the baby is facing forward and spitting up or sucking on the carrier, you only have to wash the bib, not the whole carrier, which means that it won't fade so badly. As well, we bought the all weather cover which has been a lifesaver in cold weather because our daughter always manages to take off her mittens.

Now that our baby is nearing 17 lbs I am considering buying an Active carrier. I am finding a bit more pressure on my shoulders now when I am wearing it for longer periods. But I will keep the Original carrier as well, I think it will be great to have it in the car as a spare for times when we forget to bring the Active carrier along.
