Author's Review
yes, the title says it all. Audiovox was the first company to come out with a ppc/cell phone hybrid (the thera, a large, bulky device that needed an earbud attachment to use the phone).
The 6600 is the ultimate PPC device. First it uses windows mobile 2003, a great operating system with few bugs (nobody is perfect) and great functionailty. Let me break down the technical specs of this wonderphone. It has a 400Mhz processor by intel, very fast and productive for a small device such as this. It boasts 128MB of internal memory WoW! I have mp3's, word documents, a ton of address/email/phone numbers, and about fifty games and programs stored on this device with still plenty of room left and the ability to expand with an optional SD card (yes this device accepts SD card massive storage, I have a 256MB card in mine now for extra space, unused to this point).
The buttons on this device offer all the comfort and ease of use that you could expect. There is a direction key at the bottom as well as various shortcut keys (calendar, star menu, internet explorer, contacts). The side has a volume key, a recorder key (for those who want to make voice memos), and a camera button
yes, camera button this phone has a built in camera which in my opinion is the highest quality phone-built-in camera released to date. Did I mention that the camera has a flash and a small mirror so that you can pose for a self portrait?
In addition to this there is bluetooth (this means that you can wirelessly add perphials such as a wireless earbud, and wirelessly sync with your computer). bluetooth is the future of technology and this phone is future ready!
The phone is perfect for internet usage on wireless data networks such as sprints and verizons. I feel as though I am surfing on a desktop with my ppc.
the system comes with the typical ppc software, the office package which is a must have for any business mogul such as myself.
Now for the suprise. The one thing I hate about PPC and Palm is the word or writing documents. You have to teach yourself some weird shorthand with the stylus to input letters and numbers on the screen UNLESS you have either a separate (and expensive) keyboard attachment OR have a bulky keyboard built into the bottm of the phone making it all the larger in size. NOW ANYMORE! This PPC has a slide out keyboard hidden underneath that is backlit for perfect use anywhere. HOW GREAT IS THAT>!?!! When you want it you simply slide it out and when you don't you hide it away under the phone leaving that much more room for a very large and nice bright and high resolution screen.
NOW ABOUT THE PHONE, to change this device to a phone you simply hit the green speak button (there is a green speak button and a red "hangup" button on the bottom of the front of the device). The screen changes to the dial pad. the buttons are large and fairly easy to use. The builtin antennae is powerful allowing you to fully make good use of the network you are in. I have gone to the very edge of a cell and have always had at least three bars on my signal strength. The sound is powerful, almost too powerful. I swear that I am in the same room with people I speak to on the device.
