Panasonic PT-AX200U Projector - Awesome Image Quality

I chose the Panasonic PT-AX200U projector hoping to get a high video quality and I didn't get disappointed at all. I want to replace an old Optima projector.

I bought this projector from Costco. They offered free shipping and a free set of HD cables.


The features that I like most are:

- I just connected the VGA cable from my PC , turned the projector on , and it was ready for use.

- The image definition is very good and it supports my 1280x1024 VGA. This projector supports up to 1920x1080 but I didn't try it.

- The projector lens has a shift lever on the front. I can adjust the position of the projected image without having to put books under this projector :-)

- The Menu has lots of options and it's quite easy to navigate. However, you've to get a little bit used to the navigation system. A minor drawback is that the navigation buttons are close to each other and it is very easy to press the wrong one.

- NTSC and PAL are supported. Also the power supply supports up to 240V. It will work in most countries. Well, you might want to send it as a gift to a distant relative.

- Video In: RCA, VGA, Component, HDMI, Serial, Component, S-Video

- It includes a remote control with all functionalities.



Some areas that need to improve:

- In 16:9 screen mode, I see horizontal blue bars on top and bottom of the images. I couldn't find a way of removing them. But to be fair, the same is seen with other projectors

- Compared to other projectors I've tried, the PT-AX200U is bulky. Dimensions:

- Power consumption is 290W (we always want less :-)
