Author's Review
I bought this in an emergency and it was all that was available in retail stores near me. I tried for days to give it a chance, but I never liked the "feel" of it. The foot pedal action is clunky (not smooth). I usually transcribe using minimal foot action, sometimes only my big toe. With this one, you have to use more of your foot and pick more of your foot up and down. If you do a lot of transcribing, that can get very tiring. Also, because it did not have a sensitive touch, I had a hard time guaging how much it took to get as far back as I needed to go. (Yes I know about the adjustable backspace. I'm talking about when I need to go back farther than that.) Also, the foot pedal action is loud. Even my husband complained about the noise, clack, clack, clack. Thank goodness I was able to buy my Sony M-2000 while I could still return the Panasonic. The Sony's foot pedal is about as loud as my keyboard keys, a soft thud that's minimally invasive. Also, I only need rest a toe on the edge of the pedal and barely flex it to use the sensitive action. The Sony is also only half the size of the Panasonic and delivers every bit as much bang for your buck.
