Author's Review
I bought the Panasonic VIERA TH-42PX80U 42 inch HDTV Plasma TV about six months ago and have no regretted it at all. These are not the greatest HDTVs out there, but for the price (mine was under $700) you can't beat the quality that they do give you. If you want a top of the line TV, you will pay top dollar; for a 'good' TV, this is your most economical option. Sports programs such as football, hockey, baseball, and professional wrestling on HD channels are all greatly enhanced when you view them on this television. Still having a standard television in the household gives me the opportunity to compare both technologies, and there is no way that I would not continue watching the VIERA set. For the price, I would consider purchasing another to replace the standard set that I still own. For non-HD channels, the television still holds up with a superb picture. Although colors are not as sharp, and images are not as detailed on the non-HD channels, the television does present them better than the average non-HD television. When watching programs that are very dark, or have scenes that take place at night, the colors do tend to show up very dark and images tend to become blacked out.
