Uncomfortable for newborns/small infants

Save your money and buy another seat.

We were guilted into buying this seat by a sales staff. We heard great things about the Peg Perego and when this SIP came about, it supposedly was safer. So for a considerable sum more than the previous year's model, we purchased it. We also wanted the car seat to match and lock into the Peg Perego stroller that we purchased.

Our son hated it for the first 3 months of his life and tolerated it for a couple after. He made that known to us with extended periods of crying. This made even quick 10-15min car ride trips so painful, we could not imagine driving anywhere with him for extended periods time. (Good-bye roadtrip.) It's only now that he's almost grown out of it that he seems to like it.

The obvious reason: the seat is too upright. Not good for newborn and young infants' malleable backs. Our son's head would slump forward occasionally because it was so upright. If his head wasn't slumped than his body was. Not only that, his head didn't fit between the two SIP pads and we had to use an insert to support his head for about 1/2 year.

The awkward handle makes for a difficult carrying process. (I was actually envious of people with Graco carseats because the handle made it easier to carry and their children seemed to sleep (period) in it.)

There are some positives: the carseat is durable. The five point harness is easy to adjust and made well. We really like how easy it was to use and install in the car. (It took little time to install.) The color variety is also great.
